Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Boxhop's services, including our website, WhatsApp integration, and web chat ("Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

2. Description of Service

Boxhop provides a technology platform that enables independent courier operators in Costa Rica to offer package forwarding services. The service works as follows:

  • You shop at online retailers in the United States
  • You ship purchases to a Miami warehouse address provided by your courier operator
  • Your courier operator consolidates and ships packages to Costa Rica
  • You collect packages at a designated pickup point or receive delivery

Boxhop is the technology provider. Your courier operator is the party responsible for the physical handling, shipping, and delivery of your packages.

3. User Accounts

Your account is identified by your phone number. By registering, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • The information you provide is accurate and complete
  • You will keep your contact information up to date
  • You are responsible for all activity associated with your phone number

4. Package Forwarding Rules

Permitted Items

You may only ship items that are legal to import into Costa Rica and legal to export from the United States. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and customs regulations.

Prohibited Items

You may not ship items that are:

  • Illegal, hazardous, or restricted by US export or Costa Rican import laws
  • Perishable goods (unless specifically arranged with your courier)
  • Firearms, weapons, or ammunition
  • Controlled substances or illegal drugs
  • Counterfeit or pirated goods
  • Items requiring special import licenses (unless you hold such licenses)

5. Fees and Payment

Shipping fees, customs duties, and service charges are determined by your courier operator. Boxhop does not set or collect these fees. Please contact your courier operator directly for pricing information.

6. Package Tracking and Notifications

We provide package status updates via WhatsApp and web chat. While we strive to provide accurate and timely tracking information, we cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. Tracking statuses are informational and may not reflect the exact current state of your package at all times.

7. AI-Assisted Communication

Our Services include an AI-powered chat assistant that can help you with package tracking, registration, and general questions. Please be aware that:

  • AI responses are generated automatically and may occasionally contain errors
  • You can request to speak with a human agent at any time
  • All conversations (AI and human) are recorded and may be reviewed for quality assurance

8. Limitation of Liability

Boxhop provides the technology platform only. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Boxhop is not liable for lost, damaged, stolen, or delayed packages. Claims related to package handling should be directed to your courier operator.
  • Boxhop is not liable for customs duties, taxes, fines, or penalties related to imported goods.
  • Boxhop is not liable for any actions or decisions made based on AI-generated responses.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the Services shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Boxhop (not your courier) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Boxhop, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable laws or regulations.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause. Your courier operator may also independently terminate their service to you. Upon termination, any packages in transit will be handled according to your courier operator's policies.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved in the courts of San Jose, Costa Rica.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify you of material changes through our communication channels.
